Pat Tillman may have been a college football star and NFL great, but his biggest impact was made off the field. He was a deep thinker, avid reader, and lifelong learner who prioritized serving his community and country over fame and financial gain. With that legacy in mind, we’ve partnered with the Pat Tillman Foundation to release Strong Safety, a hazy triple IPA. Proceeds from each can and pint sold will help the Tillman Foundation award military service members, veterans, and spouses with scholarships and other educational tools to help them reach their fullest potential as leaders.

The recipe for Strong Safety is based on a beer we’ve brewed in the past: O-Line. Created in collaboration with several former Arizona Cardinals offensive linemen, that triple IPA was made with 42 different hop varieties (based on Pat’s number at ASU), with proceeds benefitting the Tillman Foundation. We’ve tweaked the recipe slightly this year, but deepened that connection to Pat and his legacy. Not only is this 10.5% ABV triple IPA brewed with 4.2 pounds per barrel of hops, but the hops we used were Yakima Chief Hops’ Veterans Blend, which supports K9s for Warriors, an organization that provides highly trained service dogs to military veterans.

Strong Safety will be released during a launch party we’re throwing with the Tillman Foundation from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 14 at Arizona Wilderness Gilbert, located at 721 N. Arizona Ave. in Gilbert. Customers will be able to purchase cans and draft pours of the beer at that time. They’ll also be able to meet members of the Tillman Foundation, as well as several Tillman Scholars who’ve received foundation scholarships.
